About Us



Piranha Bar & Restaurant was established in 2011 by Directors of Piranha Ribs Ltd Claire & Vince Winyard, Claire’s father Alan Wonacott and Nick Edgington.

Piranha Ribs Ltd is a boat sales company which was set up at Sparkes Marina in 2009 operating in the offices to the rear of the marina. The directors of Piranha Ribs Ltd were concerned that with the threatening closure of the Restaurant & Bar in 2011, the Marina would lose what is a key element to the success of Sparkes Marina.
 

Careful consideration and planning was made by Piranha Ribs Ltd prior to the acquisition. By incorporating their existing boat sales operation within the building it enabled the new business venture to be viable; Piranha Ribs Ltd office is now behind the large print seen in the restaurant.
 

The vision was to create a facility for boat owners, local residents and tourists alike that was welcoming and friendly. Piranha went to work on making some subtle changes; separating the bar area from the restaurant so that it was possible to come to enjoy just a drink or bar snack, opening 12 months a year so that residents could use the Restaurant & Bar throughout the year, live music at least once a month and special offers through the week.
 

Piranha wants to continue to improve this facility for the better of its customers and will do so at every opportunity.

I take pride buying as much of our produce as possible from local sources especially the vast array of fresh fish that we offer, which we are perfectly placed to do”.​
